About Gypsy House
Gypsy House was born out of a love for 60's and 70's vintage decor. I call it country club chic, and it came from being around my fabulous grandmother's house and her beautiful things. She was a very classy lady and was always dressed to the nines. She came to my second birthday party in a glorious gold shantung shift dress with a
V-neck encrusted with pearls and rhinestones, matching coat, purse, and her always-present cigarette. She was very elegant in my young eyes. I keep two black and white photographs of her in the store because she was the inspiration behind Gypsy House.
I love to find fabulous pieces from all eras, including the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s. However, anything from before the 70s, in terms of furniture, was well-built and will last forever. They don't build quality furniture or decor like they used to. The way of life before the 70s was also so much more dressy and elegant. It was like a 24-hour fancy cocktail party, and the surroundings were just as glamorous as the women and men. Crystal-cut ashtrays, 22kt gold-embellished cocktail glasses, furniture with beautiful lines crafted from solid wood, such as mahogany and burl wood, velvets in rich, fabulous colors, and interesting decorative items. Our world is increasingly fast-paced, and we live in a hurried environment where quality is often nonexistent, and cheap and fast are the prevailing standards. I love to bring back beautiful things and mix them in my home to make it look more interesting. There is also a nostalgia factor to some of my buys. I grew up in the 1970s, and I love all things 70s: disco balls, psychedelic colors and patterns, orange and green velvet, 1970s music, and just the overall funkiness of that time. You will find a broad mix of styles and designs in gypsy house. Everything from furniture pieces, art, barware, jewelry, and decor items. Most everything is vintage, but I occasionally add modern pieces. Retro Funky Vintage Modern is the name of the game in Gypsy House. It's curated vintage for your home.
